Do Your Own Historical Research
Do you know that you can do your own research on historic properties in Orleans? The Massachusetts Historical Commission maintains a database on all properties in Massachusetts that are listed on their Town’s historic inventory. The database is called MACRIS (Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System), and Orleans has about 400 entries, made in the 1980s and 1990s. Our Historical Commission is currently updating our inventory, so watch for new and improved entries for Orleans’ properties.
MACRIS is highly searchable, so you can look up your own home by address, or the homes on your street or neighborhood. Here is the link:
